A Basil-Infused French 75

A riff on the traditional French-75. Cheers!


1 shot dry gin

1 tbsp basil simple syrup

Juice of half a lemon

1/2 cup Brut Champagne

ingredients: basil infused simple syrup

1/2 cup Lakanto powdered sugar with monk fruit

1/2 cup water

5 basil leaves, torn

zest 1/4 lemon



First make the basil simple syrup. Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Take off the heat and let syrup cool. Strain and set aside.

Fill a cocktail shaker with the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup. Shake. Pour into a cocktail glass with an ice ball. Top with champagne. Garnish with the basil tops and the basil flowers.



Makes 1 drink

I chose to make this cocktail with Lakanto because I am looking to adapt my cooking to avoid processed sugars and flours. I still wanted to be able to have cocktails, so I adapted it to be “keto-friendly”.
